In 2019, the non-profit organization Center for Council heard the call to bring compassion-based training into law enforcement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the only certified council<\/a> trainer who is also a physician, I consulted with Center for Council on developing this program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Peace Officer Wellness, Empathy & Resilience (POWER) Training Program<\/a> is an intensive and interactive six-month curriculum for police and correctional officers that utilizes mindfulness practices, compassion-based communication exercises, and training in wellness-related areas such as stress management and self-care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
